Empire Industries now has a mascot! Meet our newest addition Brooklyn Harvey.
During Hurricane Harvey, many dogs and cats found themselves without a home. Many still are living on the street or in a shelter. Here is one story with a happy ending.
When Hurricane Harvey hit, Empire Industries had a "all hands on deck" approach. Anyone working for Empire that could get to any vacant property did so. It did not matter if you were in the marketing department, accounting department or the owner of the company. Everyone did whatever was necessary to get to put eyes on our clients properties.
The co-founder of the company, Pete Neubig, was walking a property in Pasadena. As he was coming out of the backyard, a pit bull approached him. Startled and nervous at first, Pete went into the backyard and closed the gate. However, once he was able to assess the situation he realized the dog was severely injured and was looking for help. Against his better judgement, pete walked out of the backyard, bent down and offered the dog his fist. Pete thought to himself - This could go really wrong. This pit bull can eat off one of my fingers and then everyone would call me Pete Knubby instead of Pete Neubig. The dog had the friendliest eyes and licked Pete's hand all the while wagging his tail.
As Pete tried to assess the situation he realized the dog had no tag, a makeshift collar from some rope, had not been neutered or chipped. Pete looked around for anyone on the street that could give him some info. After calling a friend who rescues dogs it became clear that Pete would have to bring the dog home and foster him.
Before Pete made it home, the dog had a new name....Brooklyn. Pete and his wife Felicia already had a cat named Bronxy so it made sense to call him Brooklyn.
Luckily for both Pete and Brooklyn, Felicia and Bronxy accepted Brooklyn into their home and what was going to be a few days stay became a fixture in the family.
Brooklyn is now a healthy puppy of 43 lbs and is a pit bull and terrier mix. Pete brings Brooklyn to the office where he gets to interact with the staff and sometimes causes havoc!
We all love Brooklyn. He is our little piece of Harvey.
Pete has been involved in real estate since 2001. He has owned and managed a 39, 52 and 100 unit apartment complex. He still owns and manages the 52 unit apartment complex today. Pete is an IT specialist who understands the importance of system processes. Pete used his knowledge from managing apartments to create the systems that Empire uses today to manage and operate single family homes. Pete is an endurance athlete who has completed marathons and two ironman events. Pete is married to his wife Felicia.

Steve has been involved in real estate since 2002. He has owned and helped manage a 39 unit apartment complex. He still personally owns over 31 homes today along with his business partner Pete. Steve is an airline pilot based in Houston, TX for a major airline and fly’s mostly international routes on the Boeing 787 airplane. Because of his background in aviation and working for such a large company, his knowledge and experience in processes and systems has helped play a vital role in making Empire Industries what it is today.

Margo Broughton epitomizes integrity, energy, hard work and creative service in every detail of her work!
Margo has been a licensed real estate agent since 1994 and active in property management and real estate, both multifamily and single family since 1982. Her 30 plus years in property management has afforded her the opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of property management.
After working for 16 years in REO, single-family property management with extensive experience in property valuation, preservation, working with vendor services related to property inspections, appraisers and real estate professionals, Margo decided to go back to “regular” real estate! She managed to be a top producer, within the company by providing excellence in customer service to her client’s whether they are buyers, sellers, renters or investors.
In addition to being a top producing real estate professional, Margo works with the pet rescue groups and leads pet adoption events in the community. She is a wife and proud mother of her two daughters, an officer in the US Army and a Registered Nurse and her son a master electrician in Houston. Shannon is the Director of our Realty Services. She is a native Texan and business professional with over 25 years of experience in Management, Accounting, Marketing and Real Estate. Shannon's background and knowledge uniquely equips her to serve as the Director of Realty Services. She has been with Empire since 2015 and is very knowledgeable about the company and our philosophy. She is dedicated to Empire's clients, agents, and staff. When not working, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, is an avid sports fan, and an amateur chef.
Derek graduated from the City University of New York and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting. After graduation, he worked for a Real Estate company as a financial analyst then decided on his new journey in Houston, Texas for the booming Real Estate markets.
Derek Huynh joined Empire Industries Property Management as a Real Estate Property Accountant in 2014. He helps the organization to perform cash management, budgeting, forecasting, trending and financial analysis over the revenue and expense budgets to ensure the executive teams reach the target at a minimal cost.

Aryka Randall is a tech savvy millennial from San Diego California who relocated to the south in 2004. Randall attended college in Lake Charles Louisiana where she discovered a love for psychology, as well as marketing. In 2012, she attended and completed Burk Barkers School of Real Estate where she decided to merge two of her passions; real estate and marketing.
Aside from marketing, Randall is a published author, a former equestrian, and a self proclaimed foodie who has hopes of visiting each of the eight wonders of the world within her lifetime. She is also an avid dog lover, and a fan of Harry Potter. Aryka is ecstatic to be part of the Empire family!
Maru is the assistant to the Marketing Director here at Empire Industries LLC. Her expertise is in graphic design, social media and data entry. She will be helping to manage the companies social media accounts, designing print media and database management. In her spare time, she enjoys woodworking, astronomy, design, traveling and she hopes to one day go to space.
Montana Simerson is a Marketing Specialist with Empire Industries, with responsibility for marketing programs, brand management, and corporate sponsorships. Prior to joining Empire Industries, She worked in strategic business development and marketing at several companies, Notable is her four years as Business Development and Marketing for Synergy Direct Response, where she directed major sponsorship and other partnering initiatives.
Montana’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive and leadership. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach. Her most recent project involved a strategic partnership with Sure Clean Commercial Cleaning services to expand sales in the fast-growing Los Angeles market. This resulted in annual revenue of $1.3 million in 2 years.
Montana holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Cal State Dominguez and a Minor in Phycology .She recently just moved to Houston from California. In her spare time Montana likes volunteer at the local boys and girls club teaching basketball. As well working out and training for 5k and marathons.
Kim Francis graduated from the University of North Texas with a BBA in marketing. She put herself through college leasing residential apartments and started her post college career with Beazer International's Commercial Real Estate division as the Assistant Property Manager of Chateau Plaza, a commercial high rise office building in Uptown Dallas.
She was the Director Affiliate Marketing for HDNet/AXS TV, HDNet Movies & Magnolia Pictures owned by Mark Cuban from 2009 to 2014.
Kim is a public speaker and an Amazon #1 Best Selling author in two books, "Shift Happens: Inspirational Stories for Finding Happiness, Achieving Success and Overcoming Obstacles -Rising From the Ashes" and "Soul Source: 23 Soulful Stories of Women Who Relied on God During Difficult Times - Facing Grief with God's Grace". She started 1911 Media Consulting Group and hosts “The Empower Hour” a weekly radio show for Alliance 4 The Brave (dedicated to veterans and first responders) on 620AM KEXB in Dallas Texas. She has served since 1999 as a board member and Vice President of Fundraising for the USA Film Festival in Dallas. An avid reader, Kim is obsessed with books and film, enjoys yoga, spending time with her dogs and advocating for the prevention of esophageal cancer and helping others through their journey of grief after losing a loved one.
Kayla joined the Empire team in April of 2017 as the Property Manager for Southwest Houston. She attended Lamar University and has five plus years of management and customer service experience. She currently lives in Missouri City with her husband and two beautiful children. When not working Kayla enjoys cooking, traveling, and hosting outdoor events with family and friends. She has always has a passion for real- estate and looks forward to growing with our company.

In August of this year I started a new journey working here at Empire Industries LLC. as a property manager. I knew starting a new job as a property manager was going to be a challenge but nothing I couldn’t handle. I have been in the business since 2009 so when Empire’s team hired me on with open arms they were ready to teach me new ways of thinking in the property management business. Veronica was born and raised in Brazoria, County and is the Mother of one beautiful daughter. She studied Business Administration and Medical in college and has managed properties since 1998 in Multi-Family and Single Family Residential. She has been a licensed Realtor since 2004. Ron has worked in the real estate management business for 46 years. During his career, Ron has been involved in the management, development, construction, and sales of multi-family buildings, office buildings, shopping centers, condominiums, and single-family properties. He has worked with the FSLIC, FDIC, Resolution Trust Corporation, HUD multi family, HUD single family, and several private real estate companies. He has managed and sold over 250,000 single family homes since 1990. Ron is highly experienced in customer service, implementation, ensuring policies and procedures are followed as well as budgeting, and managing satellite offices.
Shawna Murphy joined the Empire family in September of 2017 as the Fort Worth property manager. She moved to Fort Worth in 2010 and never looked back. She started her property management career 2012 and has managed over 600 doors in that time. When she isn't hustling in the property management world, she is spending time with family and friends (normally as a Texas Rangers game). She is excited to be apart of a company paving the way in the industry and can't wait to see how far she can go with Empire Industries.
Rob graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.A. in General Business. He has a strong background in customer service as well as computers. While he started with Empire as a field tech, he has since taken on the role as an Assistant Property Manager. He lives in Katy with his girlfriend, Hayley. His hobbies include watching sports/movies and playing basketball.

Alex, came to Empire a little under a year ago. She started out as our receptionist and is now our Office Manager. She handles everything here at Empire. Whenever you call the office or come to visit she will be the one to greet you.
Rachel Allen is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana who now calls Houston home after first moving to the area in 2005. Rachel joined the Empire Team in November of 2015 as a Property Manager. Now she is the Sales and Marketing Expert at Empire Katy. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Communications from the University of Miami with an area of expertise in advertising, print and social media marketing. Rachel holds over 10 years of customer service and managerial experience and has been professionally involved in Real Estate since 2008. She started as a Real Estate investor and currently holds a small portfolio of rental properties.

David recently re-located to Greensboro, NC from Houston, TX and is actively engaged in networking for Single Family and Multi-Family investment opportunities and transactions in the Greater Houston area as well as the Greater Triad area of North Carolina. Currently, David is a real estate broker (licensed in Texas only) and personally invests in real estate assets, including a recent equity investment stake in a 22 building, 198 unit, 404 bed student apartment construction development in Bryan/College Station, Texas. His real estate brokerage efforts have focused on both MF and SF investment transactions, Commercial leases, and Rentals. Prior to entering the real estate business, David worked as a business consultant leading operations for a $22MM company, was a physical asset manager, and branch manager for a $212MM facility service company. Through these experiences, David learned the value of an entrepreneurial mindset and the importance of creating new revenue streams using real estate for passive income.
